We also went to see 'Opaeka'a Falls. So beautiful.
Here's a photo of the Wailua River. This was taken across the street from 'Opaeka'a Falls.
There are roosters EVERYWHERE. In 1992 Hurricane 'Iniki freed many of the roosters and chickens. They have no natural predators and have proliferated throughout the island. For some reason, they crow all day instead of at sunrise only.
This last view is near the place where we are staying. We've stopped here to get shave ice on top of macadamia nut ice cream. Delicious. Doesn't it look like you can see a face in the mountain?
Dan says we are not coming home. He's going to open up a tattoo shop and I am going to become a midwife and raise chickens. This is what he tells me. But for some reason, I have a sneaking suspicion that we will we boarding that plane tomorrow night. And he'll go back to being an insurance exec and me, a stay at home mom.
We always try to figure out how we can move to where we are on vacation. We did it in Maui, Telluride, Breckenridge, and now Cordillera! Fun to dream huh? You'll beat us back to TX. We leave CO next week. Enjoy your last day!!

I'm with Andrea. :)
ReplyDeleteWell Andrea and Rebecca, at least I have my first two tattoo customers with you guys. Keep your designs simple, stick figures, basic shapes...hey, don't under estimate the beauty of a red box or maybe a purple circle... ok, circles are hard. A purple triangle.
ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeleteOK! Make it a red triangle with Stacy's name in it..and we are in business.
I mean what man wouldn't LOVE that?!
I have told Stacy we are soooo in Hawaii once we get back from China!
Maybe we can get Rebecca and Andy to load up there brood? Hmmmmm
OOOOOO! We could call it "The Culture Camp for International Jet - Set Playboy's and their Multicultural Families".
I think it has a ring to it!
:)
Andrea

ReplyDeleteTell Dan to check my blog. I left him a comment.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Hi Rachel!
ReplyDeleteI got your comment on my blog today and have been going back and reading some of your posts. I had visited your site awhile back somehow but am glad to be able to be back...adding you to my blogroll! We spent 2 weeks in Hanalei back in September - guess we just missed you guys! How funny would that have been?
Thanks for your comments about your pregnancy and how things worked out. You're training to be a doula, right? We had one at my last birth...not the one I would want again if we have one again, though. But, I love reading about your parenting/birthing styles (extended breastfeeding, natural childbirth, etc...) seems in many ways we have a lot of the same views.
I'll be following along now!
