A basket of odds and ends

First things first, no, we have not yet received our referral.

Life has felt busier than usual here lately, which has left me with little time for blogging. This is actually our first weekend without something going on in about a month, so we are enjoying the lack of schedule.

I have been getting my doula bag together, as my friend, Dell, is now 38 weeks pregnant. I have loved being her doula and feel honored to have the opportunity to be at her birth. Today I made a "roll" for my essential oils, which I plan to bring to her birth. I got the general concept from Amanda Soule's book, The Creative Family, in which she describes how to make a felt pencil roll for colored pencils. I did this my own way, though, not using felt and quilting it instead. Here's how it turned out.

Earlier in the week, I finished this dress for Indigo. The pattern is called the Molly Peasant Dress and you can find it here. The fabric was from a remnant pack that I purchased this summer, and I decided to add the eyelet lace as the dress was coming together.

I love this photo because you can see the little ankle bracelet that Indigo is wearing. Dan brought this back for her from India and it finally now fits her. It jingles when she walks and she loves it.

We went to the garden store today to get some kale and collards for our winter garden, but they weren't quite in season yet. The plants looked very small and unhealthy, so we're going to wait a couple more weeks. While there Dan took this picture of us sitting on some hay bales.

Have a great weekend everyone!

And I almost thought I could hear the sweet jingle of Indi's ankle bracelet and I can well imagine her delight in it! She looks beyond sweet in her new amazing dress!

And Dell must feel such a sense of peace knowing a close friend and trained Doula will be on hand to lend support and strength during her delivery. Your roll is inspired and very lovely.

And I hope you receive your good news soon!! :)

    Hugs!!
