It's a Wrap!

Edited to add: If you decide to make the Oliver + S Bedtime Story Pajamas, I would recommend using snaps vs the ties. First of all, this will save you some time, especially if you make the ties yourself. Secondly, the ties come untied. Obviously not a problem with snaps. I added snaps to Indi's PJs and removed the ribbons.

Today I was able to wrap up some sewing projects that I've been working on.

First, I completed the baby blanket I started last night.

I finished it with this decorative stitch.

When I was this close to being done, I ran out of bobbin thread.

Then when I re-wound my bobbin, it wound up all wonky for some reason.

Patience is a virtue. Patience is a virtue.

Ah, yes, this is the reality of sewing.

Done and DONE! Whew!

Next it was on to finishing up Indi's Christmas Kimono Pajamas. Yes, you read that correctly -- Christmas Kimono PJs. I love sewing, but I do not enjoy sewing under pressure. Therefore, I am trying to break my habit of doing everything at the last minute. This seemed like a great place to start. I started this project last weekend.

The pattern is this Oliver + S pattern, which I highly recommend! This is the fourth set of kimono pajamas that I've made from the pattern - and I've made three more pair of lounge pants for the kids based on this pattern. Completely worth the price. Love it!

Guys, I'm so happy!

  2. You are SO stinkin' talented! Both the blanket and the pajamas are fantastic! You really make me want to give sewing a try. I just am pretty confident my attempts will not resemble anything close to what they are supposed to be!

  3. Why must the bobbin thread always run out right when you are almost finished with a project.... happens to me all the time and DRIVES ME CRAZY! I love the jammies... may have to try those!

  4. Rachel, that blanks it beautiful and those jammies are so adorable!! And THAT (the bobbin thing) is exactly why I hesitate to start sewing...my patience with those kinds of things are SO not good! :)

  5. You are so crafty and I am so jealous!! I'm not creative or crafty at all (without spending way too much time on a project anyway) - much more of a techie! Love seeing your projects on your blog - keep posting, maybe you'll inspire me to learn a new skill!
