Our Heat-Seeking Missiles - And One More Day!

In less than 24 hours, will be starting our journey to Ethiopia.

We would really like to blog from Ethiopia. We had planned to all along. But there is no Internet access where we're staying. There are some hotels with Internet access, but I am told there can be surges that can destroy your laptop. We were strongly advised against bringing our Macbook. I am pretty sure we can still blog updates using a computer at one of the local hotels, but we will probably not be able to post pictures. We don't know how we would upload them. We going to try to send some pictures over our phone and see if my sister could possibly blog them. We'll at least give it a shot.

This weekend, we finalized most of the things we needed to do around here before leaving. Thankfully, it felt relaxed, not frantic, and we still had plenty of family time, soaking in our last days as a family of four.

On Saturday we had a family movie night and, afterward, the kids asked if they could sleep in our bed. We let them do this on special occasions and we were trying to make this weekend special for them. When I came to bed, they were sleeping like this -

You'd think based upon how close they were sleeping that Dan and I slept in a twin sized bed. But, alas, this is not the case.

We will post again tonight after we speak with someone from the Embassy.

  3. What a sweet, sweet picture of sibling love! Jude and Indigo are going to be a great big brother and sister. I am so happy for you, and jealous that you'll be in Ethiopia in a couple of days. Enjoy that beautiful country and its generous people, and, of course, meeting Miss Evie. I'll be praying for your safe journey and easy navigation through the paperwork. Looking forward to Texas gaining another beautiful Ethiopian American!

  6. Sounds like you had a GREAT weekend! The pictures of your babies sleeping are precious.

I remember how my heart felt the couple of days before we left for China. So excited, but I was already missing the boys. Nate and O were so tired of getting hugged and kissed....when the saw me coming they literally ran the other way!!LOL! On our return however, the boys said that whenever they were missing us THAT's exactly what they thought of;-).

As far as blogging....you can always journal and do posts once you get home and settled.

Wishing you a safe, enjoyable trip to your daughter!!

    Will be praying....

Can't wait to see pics of you with E!!

    (((hugs))))Tami

  7. ADORABLE! I love how much your kids love each other- it's great to see!!! My kids are snugglers too, but they like their own space when they sleep! :)

Glad you were able to make great memories during your last days as a family of four. I know how thrilled you are to finally have Evie joining you, but there is something vaguely sad abut your last days as a family of four! Glad you savored those days!
