Today I waited on hold for four hours to speak with someone from the National Visa Center. Meanwhile, Dan was working with our congressman. The congressman's rep told me to hang up. She said our I-600A was posted on January 12. For some reason, the Embassy in Addis Ababa did not receive it. She re-posted it today. We were told to call the Embassy tonight (morning in Addis) to confirm that they received it. They did not.
The embassy's adoption visa section is closed for the rest of the day. They closed at 9:30a Ethiopian time. They are closed on Monday for President's day. We are going to call again on Monday night. We are still planning to leave Tuesday. We're going to hope for the best!
We'll keep you posted if anything else happens.
I'm sorry you were not able to get this straightened out....BUT I'm so glad you are going to go on Tuesday! Hoping it is all worked out by the time of your Visa appointment!!ReplyDelete
just letting you know that we had a very similar issue a week before we had to fly out. our FP expired and our 171 needed to be extended, to top it off, DHL LOST (!!!) our paperwork to immigrate back into germany. it was all such a hassle and all i wanted to do was cry. we also stayed course and traveled as planned. our 171 extension made it, but our immigration approval to get back into germany not, we had to deal with that while in addis. things will all work out somehow. we're now home with our beautiful baby girl.ReplyDelete
praying for you.......things will all come together.
I'm so sorry about all of this hassle. Oh that Visa Center is HORRIBLE... we ended up spending $300 on two calls and we never spoke to anyone! They are the master of "hold." I hope you get through!ReplyDelete
