Mini-Reunion with the Asian contingency (by Dan)

7 kids, 6 adults,  a little jet lag and a lot of time in the pool made for an action packed reunion for our clan.  My sisters and their families came to the states to visit for the summer and we were their first stop.

Michelle and Becky have lived Asia for most of their adult lives and it is where their kids call home.  We often go 3 or 4 years in between visits, so when we do get together everyone has a blast.  So much so, that when they left, we were all a little depressed knowing how long it would be before we see them again.  When Jude heard it would be 2 years before he would see his cousin Charis, he broke down in tears.

Clutching a picture of his cousin Charis, Jude said, "But Mom, that's two whole summers and then two whole winters. And what if I lose her picture!"  It was heartbreaking to see.  Post-departure sadness aside, we had an amazing time.  I can't believe how fast they grow up.  Michelle and Becky, you have such wonderful amazing children.   We love you guys.

Not to be slowed down by a 27 hour trip from Thailand and Cambodia, everyone headed for the pool.

When it's 100 degrees everyday, swimming is about all you can do outside.

Nerts (this sort of a speed, group solitaire) has been a family staple for 30 years.

Movie night.

Here is the crew, spanning in age from 2 to 18.

  1. I grew up playing Nerts -- I don't find many others who know it. Looks like y'all had a great time.
