This weekend, I was recovering from a bout of mastitis and the pool was already warm enough for the kids to swim in it.
By their standards, not mine.
When I was sick, Indigo brought me a quilt, a warmed rice pack, an ice pack and a pair of socks. I thanked her and asked, "Do you think you're so kind and helpful because I’ve been kind to you?' No, she responded, I just really like helping people. "You don't think it has anything to do with the way I’ve treated you?” I pressed. Nope, she said.
Then Jude, who hadn't heard our conversation, walked in with a glass of water and an apple for me. He was trying to pamper me. I asked, "Jude, do you think you’re being kind to me while I’m sick because I was kind to you when you were sick?" Nah - it's just how I am. "So do you think it has anything to do with the way I've treated you." No.
Well, folks, there you have it.
I was looking for non-junkie toy and non-candy Easter basket ideas. Somewhere I read the suggestion to fill the baskets with summer items that the kids need: swimwear, pool or sand toys, that kind of thing. Brilliant, I tell ya! Here and here are some great handmade ideas, too.
I think their compassion may have more to do with their parents than they realize right now. ;-) Great swimming pics!
