KCW Dress #3, 1 week late (ahem)

As it turns out, I never received my fabric last weekend because, somewhere between adding it to my virtual cart and checking out with Paypal, I (apparently) got interrupted.  When my fabric didn't arrive, I had a sneaking suspicion that might have happened.  Such is life with four young kids!

After actually placing the order, my fabric did come this week.  I eagerly sewed my kcw dress #3 a week late - a simple A line dress for Indigo.

I used a linen-cotton blend from Anna Maria Horner's field study line.  I wasn't so sure about the larger scale of the linen prints at first, but they grew on me... and fast.  Now I love it!  The weave of the linen itself is so beautiful.  The texture is stunning.  It has a great drape and wrinkles less than you'd expect of linen.

I used this pattern again (here, too!).  It's so simple, which I believe works well with this bold print.

I finished it with some blue bias binding and a matching fabric covered button.

The whole dress sewed up in about an hour.  You can't argue with that!

  1. Perfect blue trim and button. I love how it makes those center feathers stand out.

    1. thanks, rachel. i forgot to include photos of the way that i cut the back - using only the pink and orangey feathers, to put even more emphasis on the center blue feathers as well as the blue bias binding and button. :)
