For the Coffee and Thread Pattern Tour : A Polina Dress

Today I'm happy to be sharing my contribution to the Coffee and Thread pattern tour.  I've seen so many beautiful creations and awesome hacks using Olga's patterns! You can scroll through some of those photos here. So inspiring!

I decided to sew another Polina dress without making any changes to the pattern.  Because as far as I'm concerned this pattern is perfect already!

This time I sewed the dress in a double gauze.  It's not one that quilts up much (I used it for this dress too).  I didn't want that quilt-y look for this particular pattern. But double gauze has that light, breathable, airy quality that I love so much.

I added some crocheted lace to the center bodice front and then some coordinating lace at the flounces.  I matched the flounce lining to the lace trim.

I chose the circle skirt option like last time.  I knew Tia would be a fan of the twirl.

It's so fun to sew dresses for Tia because she really appreciates them.  She loves to wear them to her homeschool co-op even though so many of the other children dress more casually in shorts and tshirts.

One of her teachers stopped me yesterday and told me that Tia said her favorite thing about me was that I sew dresses for her.

I think the best compliment you can give a maker is a true love and appreciation for their work.  It's a joy sewing for her, knowing the garments will be worn and loved.

  6. Ahhhhhh!!! So perfect - the color, the fabric, the little bits of trim, the serious TWIRL! It's beautiful. Tia is lovely and it is wonderful to be appreciated, even if I must say, she *probably* loves you for some reasons besides your sewing skills. ;-) I love kids' honesty.
