Got Ink?

Some families spend their Saturday at the park.  We spent ours at Tattoo Fest.  Okay, not usually, but two weekends ago we did.  Dan had been looking forward to this for weeks in hopes of finding an artist to complete his back tattoo.  Mission accomplished.  Not only did he finish his tattoo, but this business exec also made his way into the Austin newspaper with this photo:

The tattoo represents our family, kind of like a family tree. One leaf on each section is tinted red for each child and there is one tinted red for me. Here's the finished product:

I'm ink-free and intend to stay that way, at least for now.   (Grandma, if you're reading this, I meant to say "definitely forever".)  I did get this new piece of jewelry for my tragus, though.

  1. Well, I have to say, I think it is very cool that the tattoo represents your family. I would never be brave enough to go under the needle... and the ear piercing, ouch, did that hurt??

  3. it took 3 hours to complete his tattoo. he said the endorphins lasted for about an hour and a half. then it got a little spicy, although not enough to stop him from plotting additional work in the future. given his profession, all the ink has to stay where it can't be seen. he's thinking he might do his shoulder area next. possibly something jungle related to symbolize his childhood in liberia.
my piercing didn't really hurt. i got it 9 years ago now and am too attached to take it out.
