Tylenol (Acetaminophen) and Asthma

I wanted to share this Web MD article that I came across about a recent study which correlates the use of tylenol with an increased risk of asthma and eczema.  Of course, we all learned in Stats 101 that "correlation is not causation" but I found this study to be thought-provoking nonetheless.

Last year there was an article in the New York Times about another study that found that kids whose parents gave them tylenol to bring down fevers were sick for longer.  The article was not advocating withholding medication for a high fevers, but, like this article, did not recommend giving it for every little temperature spike.

  1. do you use motrin or tylenol? i don't like to take meds myself and try not to give to M, but his doc said she preferred motrin.

  2. i rarely give my kids meds, either. but if i do, i do usually give tylenol. only because i have stomach issues and i know that motrin can be hard on the stomach. i own both, though.
