Oliver + S Popover Sundress

Yesterday I made the Oliver + S Popover Sundress for Indigo. I was thinking about including the pattern at the pillowcase dress party. I wanted to try it out myself first.

For my kids, Oliver + S patterns tend to be too big in the chest and just right or a little short in the length. It's really important to measure your child first. Then compare your child's measurements to the measurements on the pattern. I ended up having to take this dress in at the sides because I didn't measure Indi first. I usually measure. Really. :)

I finshed this dress with a blind hem to make it a little more fancy.

  1. Oh she is so cute! Love that little headband! Another cute dress of course. Maybe this is a dumb question, but does the pillowcases have to be a certain thread count or anything? :) Hope it's cooling off down there for you all!

    Hugs,

  2. laura,
i think her headband is so 80s, but the girl is determined to wear it! :)

the pillowcases do not have to be a certain thread count, but i think it's better if they are cotton. that is just my own preference. dan grew up in liberia and he said that any polyester mix with the heat is pretty miserable.

hope you are having a great weekend!

  3. OK, so Chloe officially wishes you were her mom! :) LOL!!! Seriously, I may have to take up sewing just to become her hero....the girl LOVES dresses. If I could keep a steady supply of new dresses flowing her way, she'd be in HEAVEN!!! :)

And, seriously.....what is with these girls and their love of headbands. If I had been able to get to my computer this week I would have penned a blog post titled "I HATE Headbands!" Chloe insists on wearing nothing but headbands, but if the point is to keep the hair out of her face, the headband has not yet gotten on board with the plan. Now she just looks like a kid with hair in her face who also happens to be wearing a headband in an attempt to make her unkempt hair look pretty. UGH.

Now I have to go back and look at the picture of Indie's headband to see if she's got the same issue going on. I'm looking forward to this phase being over and her moving on to barretts or braids or....just about any OTHER way of keeping her hair out of her face.

  5. jenna, this is so hilarious! i know, the headband does not help much at all at keeping the hair off her face. i kept asking her if i could put a barrette in instead, but she wanted the headband. the barrette is so much more tidy looking! :) i have the hardest time keeping the girl's hair out of her eyes! she doesn't seem to mind, though.

you should post some pics to your blog of C and her headbands. i'd love to see them!
